On Thursday 26th of January, Mr. Akbar Helli, the honorable architect of traditional and historical houses of Iran was invited to deliver a speech in an event organized by the embassy of I.R of Iran in London. This event was highly welcomed by Iranians residing in UK.

Mr. Aliakbar Helli, is an Iranian practiced architect originally from the city of Kashan, he is most famous for his valuable works in restoration and repairment of old valuable historical houses. His works during the past years have attracted many tourists from both Iran and outside.

His works in the Manouchehri house has been shortlisted among 19 out of 348 architect works in the "Aga Khan Award"s in recognition of architecture and infrastructure projects that demonstrate design excellence, but also address the needs and aspirations of societies where Muslims have a significant presence.

After an introduction by H.E Mr. Hamid Baeidinejad honorable Ambassador of Iran to UK, Mr. Helli delivered a speech at the embassy.
Mr. Helli spoke on the history of architecture in Iran and Kashan which has a history of 8000 years ago and can be seen in the the region of Sialk in Kashan. There have been different periods of Architecture in the Iranian history and each era has experienced unique design and ideas which altogether shape Iran´s architecture history from thousand years ago to today. Moreover Mr. Helli spoke on the unique characteristics of Iranian traditional architecture and how it makes it different from anywhere else in the world.
Hopefully during the past 20 years there has been much more attention in reviving and restoring these precious houses throughout the country and today we see both government support and private sector interest and investment in keeping this important part of our history alive.
In the end Mr. Helli demonstrated some pictures of before and after of certain projectes that have been repaired. This amazed the participants as he explained the hard and precise works that have been done to turn them from an almost destroyed building to a whole brand new beautiful traditional house.
